My great-grandfather, Norman Shapiro, was one of seven brothers born to immigrant parents in Philadelphia. In 1914, these entrepreneurial brothers, none having more than a sixth grade education, founded seven poster printing companies in seven cities.  One hundred years later, the dynamic posters they printed hang in over 85 museums!

My father, Duke Zimmerman, and I, third and fourth generation printers ourselves, want to share their story and ways in which in our first book, PEOPLE GET READY, reflects the changing times and insight into the Civil Rights Movement in America.
